November 2nd Check-In and A Note About The Hashtag

We have entered insanity season, otherwise known as National Novel Writing Month.  I started ROW80 as the sane alternative for those of us who can’t check out of life for the month of November.  But there are a lot of fellow ROWers jumping on the NaNo train.  If you’re one of them, mention it in the title of your check in post so others will know who to look for to buddy up.

Now, I just wanted to send out a plea to all the Twitter folks who are hanging out on the #ROW80 hashtag.  It exists because I want to build a community.  I want to see people doing word sprints, giving encouragement, talking about their challenges and their successes.  Lately most of what I’m seeing is a constant stream of promotions of blog posts that have nothing to do with ROW80.  So please refrain from using this hash tag for promo unrelated to the challenge.  There are others that are much better suited for this purpose and this will keep the stream free of clutter that makes conversation between ROWers rather difficult.

  1. I’ve used the hashtag a few times for blog posts and RTs that have to do with goal setting and writing. Is that a reasonable use? Or would it be better to use #writegoal or something like that?

    1. Oh I think that’s totally relevant. I’ve just been seeing a lot of people tacking our hashtag on with like 4 other to try to get max promo out of whatever they’re tweeting.
