Are you ready and on target for your journey into Round 3 of the ROW80?
Well, if not, you can start by setting your goals for the next 80 days of writing and creativity (and hopefully for some of you all, marketing and publishing too). There are asmany ways to set goals as there are people and you should try out a few menthods before finding out what works best for you.
We like to talk about how the A Round of Words in 80 Days is a writing challenge that knows you have a life, but… what do we really mean by that? We’re an online (and in some places a bit ‘in person”) community of writers and artists at various stages in our careers. We support each other through chats, sprints, gatherings and even one-to-one accountability partnerships. All we do is on a volunteer basis, and we do all of it to help you and ourselves further our aspirations as complete human beings who love words and want to share them with others.
Do you aspire to share your stories with others? Well, work up some goals to get you there and post them, here, on your own blog (don’t forget to leave us a link so we can check them out) or in our FB group. We’ll do what we can to help you on you way.
First off, I wanted to send a huge “Thank You” shout-out to Denise Young for covering the End of Round post. A family crisis had popped up and.. well, I am truly grateful.
Next, I wanted to remind all of you that next Monday is the beginning of Round 2. If anyone is looking for an accountability partner, you should get in touch ASAP. I will send out msgs this weekend to all people who’ve signed up. That is, unless you would like to keep your ‘old partner’ (that works too). Either way, send me an email or an FB message. Or leave a comment in the thread below.
If you haven’t posted your goals and/or aspirations yet… it’s time. Here’s the linky. Have fun!
Because a lot of us post our check-ins on Sundays only, let me be the first to congratulate you all on a Round of Words well written. Good for you!
That said… the round won’t be officially over until Wednesday, so if you feel you need a few more days to get things done, guess what—you have them! And not only that, since this is the official goals post for our upcoming Round 2, you have a whole new round of words to work on those dreams and aspirations, time enough to finish outstanding projects, start news ones, participate in challenges…
You have so very many chances. Make the best of them. The future is wide open… go for it.
And for those of you read with you goals? Here’s the linky:
You knew that, right? You knew that we’ve been closing in on the final week of Round 1 here at the ROW80. It’s time for those of you who are planning on joining us for Round 2 to start preparing your goals lists for the round, thinking about whether you’d like an accountability partner this time, and maybe offering your services as a sponsor for the challenge. (I’m really looking for a few good inspirational posts or images to use here, if you think you can make one.)
Until then, I’d mentioned having the goals post up today… eh, no. I was off by a few days. Silly me. It’s supposed to go out on a Sunday anyway. So, keep your eyes open and your hands writing those words (or typing… that is unless you dictate your stories, that works too).
And let us know how you’re doing in the meantime. Here or in our FB group as always.
As we move toward the horizon, what should appear on the horizon? Can it be? Yes, yes, it is.
We’ve traveled a long ways these past months, RoWers. It’s been quite a journey, and yet, rough seas and all, I’m pretty glad I took it. I hope you are too.
That said, we’re not quite there yet. We still need to ply our trades, execute our best piloting skills… we need to reach the shore, knowing that we can rest and plan our next adventure in ease.
Basically… this post is a heads up that I’ll be posting our goals link this Wednesday so we can start preparing for Round 2. It’s happening sooner than you might think.
So, why not start thinking about how this Round of Words worked for you. Did you try the new Accountability Partner program? Did you like it? Do you think you’d be interested in maintaining a small weekly present on either Instagram or Twitter for the ROW80, posting about the accomplishments or projects of fellow RoWers? Would you be interested in writing a sponsor post for this blog? Or do you have ideas or advice on how we can make the ROW80 even better?
As always, let us know in the comments or via the FB page. You can even email me directly at mousefir (at) gmail (dot) com
Oh, and toss us a link or comment about how you’ve been doing in reaching your goals.
Calling all supportive people in our ROW80 community!
I’m letting you all know that I’m looking for sponsors for Round 2 (which starts on April 1st… funny as that may sound). If you’re interested in doing a little extra for your fellow RoWers, this is an excellent way to get really involved in our friendly writing community. If you’d like to know what being a ROW80 sponsor entails before jumping in, here’s the lowdown as Kait set it up: So you wanna be a sponsor
Don’t feel obligated to jump in and volunteer, but as a community, we are our best when we’re helping each other. We pick each other up, propel each other to greater heights, and we do it because of all the people who care in our group.
Oh, and this is a check-in. Let us know how you’re doing (and there’s thing you’d like changed or fixed in our community). You can let us know in the comments or on our Facebook page.
Well, perhaps it’s not morning where you are… it’s not really morning still here either. So that’s “OK”. We’re live now.
Today is the first day of Round 1, 2019. A new day, a new year, new words, new commitments, new ideas… are you ready? Our first check-in comes up Wednesday.
Now, many of you have posted your goals for this round of words (I haven’t… just like this post, I’m running bit off schedule). If you haven’t yet, feel free to go ahead and do so now. The linky and the post will remain active for another few weeks.
If you aren’t sure of where to start and what to do, well, here’s a good place…
Seriously, start writing. Start creating. Or, in the words of my husband, “Do anything, even if it’s wrong.” You can toss out a page of crappy first draft words, you can edit them, you can save and frame them as a memorial to the moment you decided to BE a writer instead of dreaming of one.
Yes, you did read that right. We’re heading into another year of the ROW80, the Writing Challenge that knows you have a life. That’s eight years of words, creativity, community, support, even friendships… It’s been a wild ride, and we’ve changed, evolved, grown, shrunk, and rebuilt the engine a few times along the way.
What we’ve always done is set goals and support each other as we progress toward achieving those goals.
Which comes to today’s post… the super-popular Goals Post! (you have been waiting for it with abated breath, right? 😉 )
Setting goals these days might seem daunting. We’re already so very busy. It’s not the goals… we know where we want to be in by the end of 80 Days (usually), but the “How do I get there?” can overwhelm us. We can know all about setting S.M.A.R.T. goals, we can even have some great goals and strategies in mind, but we just-don’t-start.
Goals do us no good when we procrastinate and devote our energy towards things that don’t help us achieve them. So.. may this, along with the links above, give you the tools and the determination to make Round 1 the start of a great new year of creativity.
Because you may wish to refer back to your goals throughout the round, I suggest you leave a link on the linky. But as always, you can leave a comment or post in our FB group.
