As Shan Jeniah noted on our Facebook page, we’re now well past the half-way point and heading into Week 9 of this Round of Words. Time to start looking at how things have been going and shift focus if necessary to end this year and this ROWnd out with a bang. And maybe time to even peek into the future to see what the next ROW80 could bring…
Whatever your state of being is at the moment, why not take a few minutes to let us know how you’ve been doing—here or on the FB page—so we can help cheer you on toward a climatic finale.
Well, at least here in the US, that’s what a turkey might say this weekend, now that national feasting day (otherwise known as Thanksgiving) is done. For us more featherless peeps, it’s a bit more stressful. But there are little celebrations going on here and there… Hopefully you are already planning yours. And if not…
Just a little reminder that we’re half-way through our third week of this round of words… it’s bound to be a busy one.
Just our of curiosity: is anyone here also doing the NaNoWriMo in November? Tell us about your project. Will you be going full-tilt WriMo or will you be a NaNoRebel (as I will)? Either way, You know what a huge commitment that challenge is. Foryunatelu you’ve got the ROW80 on your side to make it work. Not only do we know you have a life, but we’re here to help keep you afloat when the moment takes over and you cannot resist trying to do that “one more thing”.
Or have to add that extra 1K to your daily wordcount….
You’ve got this, and we’ve got your back while you do.
Let us know what your plans and progress are at the linky:
This Round of Words is all about finding a way to keep going even when things are in flux and myriad commitments (and surprises) take our time. The fact that this (and the last) post were somewhat late is an example of that.
We keep going, and we get the job done, even though the deadline in passed. And though there are reasons, we don’t dwell on them. We just keep plugging away and get something done.
I hope your writing, your editing and marketing—even your ROW80 fitness goals—are all moving along steadily. But even if they aren’t… do what you can today and tomorrow.
You all have probably heard the saying “Time flies like an arrow” and its humorous second half “fruit flies like a banana.” Well, we know how crazy life can get, allowing deadlines to whirl past us at breathtaking speeds. Heck, I’m writing this post late because I just got caught up with other things.
But Life shouldn’t stop us from writing—not if we’re determined to write, and we love our craft. Still, it can be hard to find the right words and sort through the multitude of possible ideas out there into a literary sense. So we’re offering something new here at the ROW80… a bi-monthly flash fiction prompt, just to grease the cogs a bit, courtesy of our sponsors.
I’ll start with today’s offering:
It’s the party of the Century… last century, and it’s happening in the wax museum.
Feel free to share your offerings with your check-ins or if you’re shy, keep them to yourself (we hope you share). Here’s the linky:
Oh, and, if you’re looking for some history on the phrase “Time flies”, here’s a fun Wikipedia entry.
Howdy, howdy creators and explorers of words and worlds…
Welcome to week 2 of this third Round of Words for the year. Who knew it would take this long to regain our stride after the passing of the reins last fall? I mean, really… it’s blogging. isn’t it?
Well, no, and yes. Maintaining this page is blogging, but the ROW80 is so much more that. Or at least it’s supposed to be. Which is why I and some of our other dedicated volunteers, many who you’ve met as sponsors in previous years, are working to bring you some changes in the next month for our community. Some of the changes that will be coming:
a monthly Featured Author, because we have so many wonderful creative people in our community
a Writer’s Resource Page of ROWers, these are your choices of pages and resources you’ve found useful
a services offered by ROWers page are in the works, because many of your fellow ROWers offer those services we all need, copy-editing, marketing, beta-reading … and who knows? You might find your perfect match in our friendly community.
…and if you have other suggestions, let me know.
For now, it’s time to check-in with the linky (here and/or on our Facebook page) and your fellow ROWers. Letus know how you’re doing on those goals. And let us know if you have ideas for the new pages or would like to be one of our monthly Featured Authors either in the comments or via email: mousefir at gmail . com
Officially, the Round ends on Thursday, but that’s mostly because we have to give a few days for everyone to tally their progress (even if I’ve commented on the arrival of the end of the round for weeks now, I’m sure I’m not the only procrastinator here who hasn’t done a solid run-through of their accomplishments).
Truth be told… there’s a lot to be said for any progress is good progress. We have a lot more to do as writers these days, a lot more hats to juggle and a lot more “bosses” (or at least audience members) to answer too. But, hey… Let’s go for broke; let’s aim for a solid 99 and 44/100 % success. Ivory Soap success…
You can do it.
BTW, a cool thing about Ivory soap? It’s easy to carve. You can make a lot of things out of it.
Kind of like the progress you are making on all these goals you’re setting.
